AGE 4 – 5 YEARS

The Early Years of learning are such a critical time for young children. These are the years when the foundations are put down to formulate a strong base on which lifelong learning can be developed successfully. Children’s welbeing and emotional and spiritual growth as well as their academic development are always at the forefront of the educational delivery within our school. The vision for our reception class children is thtat they will understand that whatever challenges they are faced with in teir life, anything is possible as long as they keep trying. Strength, resilience and tenacity are key factors that we want our young learners to have. An enquiring mind to investigate and experiment and build deep understanding of their world.

In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage where the children learn through play in the spacious indoor and outdoor classroom.  Our happy and nurturing environment supports the children to be enthusiastic and independent learners who enjoy exploring the world around them.

We encourage children to:

• learn through play;
• use phonics to read and write;
• learn to be healthy;
• learn to be good friends;
• learn creatively;
• have an understanding of mathematics.
