Absence Procedures

ILLNESS/MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

The safety of your children is important. If your child is absent from school due to illness, please phone the school's absence line (01684 592259 Option 1) by 8.45am on the first day of absence. Please also send in a written explanation on their return.

If your child needs to attend a dental or medical appointment during school hours, please let us know in advance, giving details in writing of the time of the appointment and the arrangements being made for your child’s collection and return. Children arriving or leaving school during the school day must be collected/dropped-olf at the school office. Parents must sign their children in and out.

Requests to be excused from PE games or swimming should be made in writing to the class teacher before the lesson. However, if you have any doubts about your child’s health please inform the school by telephone and keep your child at home.

TERM TIME HOLIDAY REQUESTS

To request an absence for your child that is not illness related, please complete the following form: https://schoolforms.uk/T/GI6uejuBbqHUOq1qPK

Please note, however, the Government has renewed appeals to parents not to take their children out of school during term time. The Governors of the school support this and have decided that students will only be given permission to take leave in term time if there are exceptional circumstances.

As a school we are also masked to inform you that, in line with Worcestershire County Council Policy, unauthorised absences may be subject to a penalty notice fine of £60 payable per parent, per child, increasing to £120 each if not paid within 21 days. If this fine is not paid within 28 days this may lead to court proceedings.

Our key priority is to ensure that all children are as successful as possible and able to achieve their full potential.  We would hope that, upon reflection you are able to support this decision in line with the Local Authority and Government policy that any leave should be restricted to the 13 weeks school holidays except in exceptional circumstances.
